What is Hyperpigmentation?

1. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid which naturally lightens pigmented areas.  it also restores the natural tone of your skin. Apple cider vinegar also contains beta carotene which effectively replenishes the damage caused to the skin.

How To Apply

  • Take equal quantity of water and apple cider vinegar in a container. 
  • Apply to the pigmented area and then let it stay for 2-3 minutes.
  • Wash it by using lukewarm water.
  • Repeat twice daily to attain your goals.

2. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera contains a compound aloesin. It inhibits the production of melanin in the skin, results in may lighten hyperpigmentation. it works effectively as a nontoxic hyperpigmentation treatment.

 

How to Do

  • Apply pure aloe vera gel to pigmented areas before bedtime.
  • Rinse using warm water the next morning.
  • Repeat daily until your skin color improves.

3. Green tea

Green tea extracts may also minimize the hyperpigmentation effect when applied to the skin. Green tea leaves also contain gallic acid which can also help improve skin.

 

How to Use

  • Steep a green tea bag in hot water for at least 5 minutes.
  • Now remove the bag and then let it cool down else it can burn your skin.
  • Rub the teabag at the required dark patches.
  • Repeat it twice daily until your skin color improves.

4. Licorice extract

Licorice extracts contain glabridin which is an active ingredient that may lighten the pigmentation effects. Glabridin has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that effectively improve skin patches. People use creams containing glabridin, for topical application.

 

How to Apply

  • Pour water in the pot and then add the roots in it.
  • Now, Boil the roots for 10 minutes at medium flame.
  • Let the water cool down.
  • Strain it and then store it in a spray bottle.
  • Apply it twice until you get the results.

5. Tomato

Tomato is another natural product that can minimize hyperpigmentation. Tomato contains Lycopene which can minimize the effects of photodamage on the skin and reduce pigmentation.

How to Apply

  • Slice the tomato and apply it to the pigmented area.
  • Let it dry for at least 15 minutes.
  • Wash it with lukewarm water.
  • Repeat this twice daily until you get the results.

6. Lemon

Lemon is a natural bleaching agent that lightens the skin. Lemon, as a major ingredient is used in certain lightening formulations such as Lucederm and meladerm. Lemon juice may irritate sensitive skin so examine it on your hand before applying your face. Always use sunscreen after Lemon juice application, as Lemon juice gets your skin photosensitive.

How to apply

  • Add one tablespoon of Lemon in honey and mix it well.
  • Apply to the pigmented area and let it remain over there for 15 minutes.
  • Lastly, Rinse off your skin using lukewarm water.

7. Red Onion

Red onion is used as an active ingredient in scar lightening creams.  Research also shows that the dried part of red onion can effectively lighten skin. It can be applied to each skin type, as it doesn’t harm your skin.

How to use

  • Take a sliced onion and rub it at the pigmented spots.
  • Let it stay to your skin for 15 minutes and then wash your skin.
  • Repeat it twice daily until you achieve the desired results.

8. Milk

Milk contains Lactic acid, which helps lighten the spots and brightens the skin. Research shows that Lactic acid is quite effective to treat melasma.

How to apply

  • Apply a few drops of fresh milk with a cotton swab on the affected area and let it dry.
  • Wash your face with lukewarm water and repeat this process twice daily.

9. Potato

Potato is quite helpful in reducing wrinkles and pigmented spots, as it contains Azelaic acid which wipeout hyperpigmentation caused by acne.

How to use

  • Rub the sliced potato at the affected area and then let it dry.
  • Wash off your skin and do it on a regular basis.

10. Black tea water

Black tea extract has the skin whitening properties, the study data found that when it applied to pigmented spots on guinea pigs, it inhibits melanin production and ultimately reduce hyperpigmentation.

How to use

  • Boil Black tea leaves and then let it cool down for few minutes.
  • Apply at your skin using a cotton swab.
  • Repeat this process twice daily.
